Member ProgramsCommittee on Architecture for EducationAIA Kentucky's Committee on Architecture for Education was formed in 2006. The Committee was initially involved in evaluating proposals for model school plans in the 2006 legislature and met with members of the state legislature's School Facilities Evaluation Task Force to share national research and our viewpoints on model schools. The group monitored the work of the Task Force throughout the summer and in late 2006 provided a letter and position statement to the Kentucky Board of Education expressing our support for key recommendations in the Task Force's final report. Plans for 2007 include exploring opportunities for educational programming relative to school design, collaborating on efforts to promote sustainable design in school facilities, and continued dialogue with state officials and legislators on key priorities for the improvement of school facilities in Kentucky. Committee Co-chairs for 2010 are:Martha Tarrant, AIA Mike Smith, AIA To join this committee, contact Janet Pike.
